Join the Machias Arts Council for an artist reception celebrating September Artist of the Month Jim Tucker of Schooner Cottage Creations.
Based in Jonesport, Jim creates hand-carved and painted folk art using reclaimed wood, driftwood, stone, and other natural materials. His work draws inspiration from the wildlife, waters, and coastal beauty of Downeast Maine, combining thoughtful craftsmanship with a timeless Americana folk-art style.
From whales and ducks to vintage salmon flies and other wildlife, Jim's work reflects both his connection to the natural world and his appreciation for giving reclaimed materials new life.
Meet Jim, explore his work in person, and enjoy light refreshments at the Machias Arts Center from 5:00–7:00 PM.
About the Artist
Jim Tucker is the artist behind Schooner Cottage Creations in Jonesport, Maine. Inspired at a young age by his mother, Jim returned to creating art more fully later in life and now works from his studio overlooking the Downeast coast.
His favorite sources of inspiration are close to home—from exploring the Bold Coast to time spent at camp on Beddington Lake.
