Returning to a Lifelong Passion

I've always had a passion for creating art, and my earliest artistic influence was my mother. Like so many people, however, life eventually got in the way. For many years, there simply wasn't enough time or energy left for creating.

Now I've been able to return to that part of myself and devote more time to making art.

My workshop on Englishman Bay in Jonesport has become one of my favorite places to find inspiration. I'm surrounded by the landscape that influences so much of what I make, and when I'm not there, I'm often exploring the Bold Coast or spending time at my camp on Beddington Lake.

Those places continually give me new subjects and ideas.

Right now, I'm carving vintage salmon flies, ducks, whales, and other wildlife. Working with reclaimed and natural materials allows every project to develop its own personality, and that's part of what keeps the process interesting for me.

When someone asks me to choose my favorite piece, I can't do it—I wouldn't want to hurt the feelings of the others!
