Alison Brynn Ross
This October, the Machias Arts Council celebrates Alison Brynn Ross as our Artist of the Month.
A multidisciplinary artist based in East Machias, Alison works across painting, sculpture, illustration and mixed media, drawing inspiration from nature, folklore and the strange beauty found between the familiar and unexpected.
Her recent exhibition, Kindred Occult, explores our complicated relationship with the natural world through works that are sometimes playful, sometimes unsettling and often a little bit of both. The exhibition is currently on view at the University of Maine at Machias.
Meet Alison at the Machias Arts Center on Saturday, October 17, from 3–6 PM for her Artist of the Month reception, and spend some time with her work in person.

Commission Options

Option 1: Member with Sitting Requirement — Become a Machias Arts Council member for $25/year and commit to an average of 2 gallery sittings per month. Commission rate: 25%.

Option 2: Member without Sitting — Become a Machias Arts Council member for $25/year with no sitting requirement. Commission rate: 35%.

Gallery artists have the opportunity to lead demonstrations and hands-on workshops, sharing techniques, skills, and creative processes with the community. It’s a meaningful way to engage with visitors and expand your visibility as an artist.
