The Machias Arts Center is a welcoming creative hub showcasing the work of local artists and makers. Our gallery highlights the talent of Downeast Maine, while our workshop spaces offer hands‑on opportunities to learn new skills, explore new mediums, and connect with fellow creatives. At the heart of the center is the Gathering Room—a comfortable, flexible space designed for conversation, collaboration, and community events. Through exhibitions, workshops, and programs for all ages, the Machias Arts Center celebrates creativity and strengthens the cultural life of our region. JK Auto Art

We’re excited to feature Jacob Hansen, a painter whose love of classic cars and coastal Maine come together in the most striking way.
Jacob lives on an island off the coast of Maine with his wife Hannah, their seven kids, and fourteen chickens — a true Downeast family rooted in community and creativity. His work blends nostalgia, craftsmanship, and the unmistakable charm of vintage automobiles.
Stop in this month to explore Jacob’s unique paintings of classic cars. You might just find the perfect piece to take home.
Hearts of Machias: A Community Effort
The Machias Arts Council extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited, shared, and supported our Hearts of Machias exhibition. Your enthusiasm filled the gallery all month long, and your generosity made a real difference in our community. Thanks to artwork purchases and the many food donations brought to the gallery, we were able to deliver both a check and a full collection of non‑perishable items to the Machias Food Pantry.
We are grateful for your continued support of this meaningful local resource. The need in our community is ongoing, and we encourage everyone to keep the spirit of Hearts of Machias alive by supporting the Food Pantry throughout the year.
