Discover the art and science behind traditional cold process soap making in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop.
During the first session on Saturday, December 5, you'll work step by step through the soap-making process, including lye safety, oil selection, blending, molding and ways to customize your batch.
All materials and supplies are provided, and each participant will create 10 full-size bars of handcrafted soap to take home after curing.
A Two-Part Workshop
Cold process soap needs time before it can be removed from the mold, so participants will return to the Machias Arts Center on Wednesday, December 9, anytime between 4–7 PM, to unmold and cut their finished loaf.
No previous soap-making experience is necessary. Come ready to learn something new and leave with the skills and experience behind a handmade craft, plus 10 bars of soap made by you.
