About
Introducing
Carol Anthony
Carol Anthony is the artist behind Periwinkle & Co., a Jonesboro, Maine studio creating handmade resin jewelry and artwork inspired by the natural beauty of Downeast Maine.
A lifelong lover of flowers and gardening, Carol’s connection to nature began as a child helping her mother care for flower gardens and visiting local greenhouses each spring. Today, that same appreciation continues through her own gardens and her artwork, where locally gathered flowers, plants, and found insects are carefully preserved in resin.
Each piece Carol creates is handmade with intention. Flowers are collected locally throughout Downeast Maine, pressed by Carol, and thoughtfully arranged in layers of resin to capture their natural beauty. The insects featured in her work are found—not collected through harm—reflecting her respect for the natural world she celebrates.
Carol’s artwork is not only about preserving nature, but preserving memories. One of her most meaningful creations was a set of framed resin and pressed flower arrangements made from flowers taken from a loved one’s memorial arrangements—a reminder that art can hold emotion, connection, and remembrance.
Beyond her work as an artist, Carol is a history teacher at Washington Academy and an active member of her community, volunteering with local organizations including the Addison Volunteer Fire Department and the Moosabec Summerfest Committee.
Through Periwinkle & Co., Carol continues to explore new creative possibilities while celebrating the flowers, landscapes, and small wonders found throughout Downeast Maine.

My Story
Little Pieces of Nature, Carefully Preserved
My love for flowers began when I was young, helping my mom plant and care for her flower gardens. Every spring, we would visit local greenhouses together, choosing the perfect flowers for her many garden beds and planters. It became a tradition that stayed with me as I grew older and created gardens of my own.
That connection to nature continues to inspire my artwork today. Through Periwinkle & Co., I preserve the beauty of wild and planted flowers, along with found insects, in handmade resin jewelry and art pieces.
I collect flowers locally throughout Downeast Maine, press them myself, and carefully arrange them in layers of resin. Each piece is a small snapshot of the natural world—a way to hold onto the beauty of a season, a place, or a moment.
My Artistic Journey
I have always been creative. As a child, I spent time drawing, painting, and creating with whatever materials I could find—cardboard, pipe cleaners, and other craft supplies all became opportunities to make something new.
As a teenager, my creativity shifted toward writing. I filled notebooks with poems, short stories, and the beginnings of many books (even if I never quite finished them!).
A few years ago, while helping my students organize the first Washington Academy Student Council Craft Fair, I was inspired by the creativity and connection within our local crafting community. That experience encouraged me to explore a new creative outlet, and I began imagining ways to combine my love of nature with art.
That idea became Periwinkle & Co.
Two years later, I continue exploring new flowers, new techniques, and new ways to create with resin and pressed botanicals. I find inspiration everywhere—from my mother’s flower gardens to fields, roadside ditches, and the unexpected beauty found along the way.
An Interesting Fact About Me
I'm a high school history teacher.
